Meet the team

Dr Macdonald joined our team on the 1st September 2025. He will work alongside Dr Julia Bloemertz and Spencer Ward as partners of Neetside Surgery. Angus has lived in the Bude area for over 20 years and was a partner at Stratton medical centre for much of that time. Dr Macdonald performs minor operations and steroid injections at the Surgery.

Dr Julia qualified as a GP om 2009 with her special interests being child health, oncology, and haematology. She graduated in Germany in 2002 and completed postgraduate training in various UK hospitals, and undertook GP training in Cornwall from 2007. Dr. Bloemertz joined the Surgery in December 2010 and is a practice partner alongside Dr Macdonald and Spencer Ward.

Dr Jones joined us in July 2023. He brings extensive experience from working in various local surgeries as well as serving GP on cruise ships - a great passion of his. Dr. Jones performs minor operations and steroid injections at the Surgery.

Pauline returned to the surgery in September 2024 after working as a locum. She is a retained GP and, alongside her role here, undertakes medical aid work overseas, which she is very passionate about. Pauline oversees women's health at the practice and provides coil fitting and removal services.

Melanie is our Practice Manager and played a key role in establishing Neetside Surgery alongside Dr Dowling (now retired) in 2005. Melanie oversees the day-to-day operations of the practice and manages the practice's finances and accounts.

Suzanne is our Deputy Practice Manager alongside Tracy-Jane, works part time at the start of the week. AMSPAR qualified and an experienced medical secretary, she is responsible for overseeing the admin team, scheduling appointments and handling day-to-day patient enquiries with the usual admin duties. She supports Melanie with QOF and the running of the practice. Suzanne has been with the practice since it opened in August 2005.

Tracy joined the team in 2023 and is currently working alongside Suzanne in the Deputy Practice Manager role whilst she is currently undertaking a practice manager course. Tracy carries out daily admin duties processing letter, booking appointment. submitting patient registration's and assisting with patient queries. She is working with Melanie and using the skills from her course to learn the Practice Manager role.

Becci joined the practice in June 2021 in the reception/admin team, Becci now manages complaints for the Surgery. She handles many HR responsibilities  and supports Melanie as her PA in the day-to-day running of the practice. She oversees arranging post natal appointments and creating patient invoices for any private work/medicals.

Diana joined the team in Feburary 2016 and works part-time on the front desk reception, she is on hand to help with queries and book appointments. Diana also deals with insurance reports.

Robyn joined the practice in October 2016.  Robyn works in the admin office and can help with booking appointments and general enquiries, she also deals with referrals and typing letters. Robyn also undertakes the lead admin role in monitoring childhood vaccinations.

Julie joined the team in July 2021. Julie is experienced in working in GP surgeries and currently deals with typing and referrals as well as general day to day administrative tasks, booking appointments and dealing with patient enquiries.

Michelle joined Neetside in 2019 as part of the Admin team. She works on the reception desk each morning. She is on hand to help with booking appointments and answering queries.

Julie joined the team in April 2020. Julie's main role is focused on prescriptions but she also helps cover the reception desk one afternoon per week. Julie can help you with prescription queries, making apointments and general queries.

Sally joined the team in October 2021. She has many years of experience as a Medical Secretary and assists with booking appointments, answering patient appointments and general enquiries. Sally works two days a week and covers prescriptions, referrals and typing letters.

Roxanne joined the team in June 2025. She covers a mixture of the front reception desk, making appointments, answering patient queries and daily tasks. Roxanne also works in the administrative team processing letters, assisting with registrations and is currently learning the prescription role.

Kim has been with Neetside since July 2025. She covers a mixture of reception- making appointments, answering patient queries and daily tasks. She also works in the administrative team on the phones, processing letters and is currently learning the prescription role.

Lianne joined the practice in September 2025. She carries out a mixture of reception duties on the front desk, as well as working in the admin roles. Lianne can help you with patient queries, making appointments, processing hospital letters and is currently learning the referrals process.

Nicky is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and started with us in May 2023. She is highly trained and able to carryout additional responsibilities traditionally done by a doctor. She can carry-out clinical assessments, diagnose, treat both acute and chronic illnesses, referrals, issues prescriptions.

Suzanne works part time at the practice and has been here since we started in August 2005. Suzanne covers all treatment room and chronic disease care, including cervical smears, respiratory checks, weight management, child immunizations, dressings, blood pressure, ECG's etc

Hilary joined the team in August 2010 and works part time. She is part of the surgery's diabetic nursing team alongside Kirstine. Hilary is our travel vaccination    co-ordinator and also carries out routine treatment room care including child immunisations, dressings, cervical smears and chronic disease management.

Kath joined the team in November 2016 and is carrying out general Treatment Room appointments as well as chronic disease management. Kath specialises in palliative care and respiratory conditions. 

Kirstine joined the nursing team in January 2022 and works 3 days a week at the practice. Kirstine carries out all treatment room procedures, including cervical smears, chronic disease management and monitoring, weight management, child immunizations, dressings, blood pressure, EGS's etc. Kirstine is also part of the diabetic team alongside Hilary.

Spencer qualified as a Paramedic in 2016 with a BSc (Hons) Paramedic Practitioner degree from Plymouth University, Level 7 in Mentorship and a Level 3 Award in Education and Teaching.  Spencer works alongside the doctors, conducting home visits and managing all aspects of emergency medical care within the practice. Spencer joined Dr Bloemertz and Dr Macdonald as a partner at Neetside in September 2025.

Gemma joined the team in March 2012 and works as a phlebotomist and HCA. With years of experience behind her, Gemma is with us 4 days a week, where alongside her phlebotomy clinics, she also carries out Health Care Assistant roles such as initial review appointments for long term conditions, vaccinations, injections and ECG's as well as B12  injections and simple dressings/wound care.

Kate joined as a phlebotomist in June 2021. Since then she has worked to develop her skills taking on a Health Care Assistant role alongside Gemma. Kate will see you for routine health checks, long term condition reviews, ECG's, Dopplers and injections such as B12's, flu and shingles. In September 2025 Kate began her Nurse associate training and we are looking forward to her developing her skills further.

Kathryn joined the team in October 2019 as a General Practice based Pharmacist. She works at Neetside every Tuesday. Kathryn will be carrying out a wide range of duties relating to prescribing and medication including; medication reviews, dealing with complex prescription requests and helping to monitor and manage the Practice's prescribing budget.

Philippa is one of our Mental Health Practitioners who works with patients as all 5 network practices. She is available to patients at Neetside Surgery.
